Better Ceramic Restorations with CEREC

One of the common dental procedures that people hate most is taking impressions. The trays are uncomfortable, the impression material can be cold and taste bad, and the whole process can be less than pleasant. Unfortunately, impressions are needed whenever a foreign object is being introduced into the mouth, so they may seem unavoidable. Thanks to new dental techniques, however, you can avoid dental impressions with CEREC technology.

What is CEREC?

Chair-side Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) is a CAD/CAM software that eliminates the need for impressions by taking a 3D virtual image of your mouth. This device eliminates the need for messy impressions in favor of a streamlined all-in-one technology.

How Does it Work?

The CEREC unit takes several photos of your mouth and uses them to make a 3-D model of your mouth, replacing traditional dental impressions. This digital model will be used to mill a replacement restoration from dental ceramic, which Dr. Alan Dechter or Dr. Matthew Moy will place and fix into your mouth.

The Benefits of CEREC

The digital image we take is highly detailed, so the fit of your dental device should be better than ever. The CEREC ceramic replacement process is also more convenient than traditional methods: it is more comfortable without traditional impressions and, best of all, the whole process can be completed in just a single visit! Same-day restorative dentistry means that you don’t need to make time for multiple appointments. By repairing your teeth as soon as possible you can also maintain your high quality of life.
